The Big Freeze Theory

For science at the moment, we are doing a topic called 'Astronomy'. Astronomy is the study of space and planets, meaning we were looking at the universe. I learned some really cool things with the class, as well as my own things through research, such as how and why they do space missions, night and day, changing seasons, tides, and even more. There are even more things than you would think to do with space, like tides. It is not just rainfall that changes the tides, it is actually mainly the moon and it's gravitational pull. When the moon passes around the earth, it goes and pulls water towards it, making the sea rise in one place/country and fall in the opposite to it. One thing I started researching was how big the universe is. There is a certain topic in Astronomy named "The Ultimate Fate of the Universe" which is about how big the universe is. A couple of things I found out was that if any living thing could get to a certain point in the universe, they would die from something called the "Big Freeze" or Heat Death. It is when the universe reaches Absolute Zero temperature, basically the coldest temperature it can get, which is hard to believe really. But the universe goes on further and further after that before black holes start appearing and that is pretty much the end as nothing or no one could get past those. I really enjoyed this topic of Astronomy as I have always been interested in it and would really like to research further into it one day.

Textiles Creative Creature

For Textiles this term, we have been making and sewing 'Creative Creatures.' This one here is mine and I think I would rate it very well for myself. Skills that I used were things like sewing on buttons when it had been stuffed and I learned how to snip the insides to make it not so compacted too. It was pretty fun but I had lots of challenges the whole way of creating it. I hope you think it is good.

the Coco-Crunch Cereal.

I used five gimmicks:

1: I put the ‘My Fun Zone’ because Coco-Crunch is a very

playful and tasty cereal.

2: It has a ‘New and Improved Super Crunch’ which will

hopefully attract more people into buying it.

3: Lewis the Dragon loves Coco-Crunch, that’s why he is my

mascot.

4: Inside the cereal, it has a special pack that you can design

your own cereal box to remember this cereal.

5: You can join the Coco-Crunch Club and get the latest news

on different flavors and textures.

Mall Project

For maths this trimester, we have been doing a project called the Mall Project. We have had 2 Million dollars to design a mall any kind we like. Each square inside the mall costs 500 dollars and parking area cost 200 dollars. We had to have over 20 shops and also have a toilet. If you have a 2 or 3 story mall then you had to have something to get you up to the levels. I really liked this project and would definitely do it again.

Hi, my name is Riley and I go to Westland High School. I am a year 7 and I love to swim and have broken several West Coast Records over the past 6 months. I also like to play Basketball, and am very good at it. Cooking is one of my favorite things to do at home as well as Skiing, Biking and Reading. I have a Mum and Dad, 1 Sister, a dog and a goldfish. My favorite subject at school is Science and Drama. I play piano and am very good at it. I can play things like Fur Elise, and other simple little songs. That was a little bit about me.
